I love to get the students really talking about an issue. I saw another teacher do it and thought that this looks really effective. My Walk to School Week teaching resources are designed to get the students to think about why we should walk to school, what are the alternatives and the benefits and the costs of walking to school using different modes of transport. They are also designed to get students really talking, listening and expressing their own ideas. My teaching resources could be printed out and made into an eye catching, thought provoking display or used as a whole class discussion stimulus. I am now making a new series of resources like this, so that teachers and students can get a lot more out of every lesson.

I have used a wide range of inspirations to create a fun conversation starting lesson about Christian Aid week. This lesson looks at different issues which may be covered in Christian Aid week such as what is war, what is peace, what is a home and how we can help our fellow man, woman and child. I have started using conversation starters in my own lessons with great effect and I think you will also enjoy using them in your own lessons. Design a Game 4 Template Boards I have collected 4 different blank board templates - the idea is for children to develop their own board games and their own rules. They then need to teach the rest of the class how to play their game. Lots of talking, discussion and communication skills.

You could focus on how does keeping healthy in general, mean you have a healthy, longer lasting heart in particular? The students could also take the laminated photos and sort them into different healthy activities. The students can then discuss what they think about each activity and why it is good for the heart. Which would you rather? - A fun set of 100 child friendly either or questions for 3 to 8 year olds. This is a child friendly set of questions which encourages them to make decisions and explain their answers to the rest of the class. When I play this game, I set two corners of the room, one for each answer. The children get up and move to the best answer for them. It could be used as a time filler, in Golden Time or during conversation. You could print out the pictures and mix them up or use them as a PowerPoint presentation.
